What is an EOC?

EOC stands for Emergency Operations Center. Think of it as a command post, a central hub where people in charge of responding to emergencies gather to coordinate efforts.

When a disaster strikes, like a hurricane, here's what happens:

Information Gathering: People from different agencies like fire departments, police, hospitals, and emergency management come together to share information about the situation.

Decision Making: Leaders discuss the best course of action, deciding where to allocate resources, who should be evacuated, and what services are needed.

Communication: The EOC acts as a communication hub, ensuring that everyone involved is on the same page and that information is flowing smoothly.

So, essentially, an EOC is a place where people work together to manage and coordinate emergency response efforts.
